SWISS SNOW LEVEL 08/07/2024: Col Grand Ferret - Snow covers the Swiss side just below Col, snow bank remains, they require steps down and across the snow to lower paths in Switzerland. 2 snow paths remain on Italian side in an exposed location just before the Swiss border is reached requiring precise foot placements, feet at correct angle, & 2 poles for balance & walking crampons on footwear for those with no snow or trekking experience.

No need to cross the high passes from one country to the next on the MINI 1/4 TMB loops. Ideal for May and June. In early summer the snowy mountain passes can be tricky so try a 1/4 of the TMB whilst the big cols are still frozen and under snow.
Before July and August a 1/4 sections offers adventure over a long weekend using the TMB path and TMB variant path options to return to the same place where you begin. A fabulous discovery option.
In July, August and September the TMB opens up for everyone as the snow melts and the big Cols become accessible to everyone.
Late summer and early autumn there can be less flowers and the colours change to be autumnal on the Tour Mont Blanc. Paths are free of traffic and evenings are cool. Autumn can be equally as enjoyable for the refreshing climate during the day which is ideal for walking and carrying a back pack is far easier in an autumnal breeze.

Introductory discovery hikes on the Tour Mont Blanc - from 3 to 5 days
Enjoy a gentle introduction to the full circular hike known as the Tour Mont Blanc. Ideal if you are less fit or just fancy a flavour of the Alps. Opt for the MINI Tour Mont Blanc if you would like to hike in any one of the 3 countries in which the full Tour Mont Blanc goes, one country at a time, there are 4 sub sections.
Each sub section has sufficient interest, delight and challenge, to deliver full mountain satisfaction and pleasure from a few days walking in a stunning environment with fine views, yet a MINI is not overly time consuming, nor overly challenging as fewer days. This can be the perfect introductory and discovery option for some people preferring not to commit to 9 or 12 days of hiking steep mountains all in one go.
