Visit the spectacular Barrage Emosson in the afternoon and see lake & geology. A superb way to admire mountains. Visit Switzerland for 1 day. Enjoy mini train journeys in 1 day to reach Barrage Emosson high point. Fabulous lunch date. All aboard !!! Go from Chamonix to Switzerland on valley mountain viewing train, travel up and down in Switzerland, repeat the fun on the way back. ACTIVITIES: Join the group on a tourist guided visit lasting 90mins of altitude damn (when available). Always a short walk to explore (less than 1km) walk about and enjoy views of mountains. Option to walk to Vieux Emosson higher damn wall for those wishing to stretch their legs further, although option to relax and just enjoy the views exists too. LATE BREAKFAST: Croissant bar & café LUNCH: Lunch at Panoramic restaurant or take out options too. HIGHEST REFRESHMENT: the Cabane Vieux-Emosson for drinks & small bites TRAINS: 1. The French mountain viewing train from Chamonix goes to Vallorcine with views of the Mont Blanc and lots of other beautiful mountains in the Camonix valley (30 mins) 2. Vallorcine short train trip to Chatelard Frontier on the Swiss border (6 mins) 3. Chatelard Frontier SBB train (sbb.ch) to Chatelard Village brings you to the base point of the Funiculaire (10 mins) 4. The Verticalp Funiculaire lift (Verticalp.SA) goes directly up the mountain (10mins) 5. The panoramic choo choo Tourist Train (Verticalp.SA) then takes you across and around the mountain (10mins) 6. The final step is the breath taking "mini funiculaire" lift (Verticalp.SA) to visit the Barrage Emosson itself (2 mins) Included: optional walk over the damn road and around the lake Emosson. No small paths are included in this day trip, the more adventurous option is in the MEDIUM walks called Gorges de la Veudale. OPTIONAL EXTRAS (not included): 1. A zipwire over the reservoir. 2. Dinosaur print walk requires 5 -6 hours so is not fully compatible with this itinerary but there is time to start it off if desired. 3. Rock climbing (confirmed climbers at 7b+ on the damn wall face - route online) only if you are quick and don't hang about for too long. 4.
