Take a Mont Blanc tramway journey to Montivon mountain station from St Gervais Les Bains, then walk up to Col de Forclaz and Prarion for amazing views of Mont Blanc & glaciers and Aiguille de Midi and Aiguille Verte. At Prarion enjoy fine 360 views of the French mountains, look down on the Chamonix valley, admire the Mont Blanc and the glaciers (Griaz, Bourgeat, Taconnaz, Bossons) take in the Aiguilles Rouge to the left, and a full view of Aravis behind (fromMont Charvin, Etale & Point Merdassier, Col des Aravis, to the Point Percée) which are beyond St Gervais Les Bains. This walk includes some steep slopes, it is the most difficult in the medium category of walks in terms of max gradient, at the top end of 20% so excellent trail grip on the soles of the shoes / boots is essential. Much of the circular walk is far easier than the steeper sections and makes for very pleasant and easier walking on far less steep terrain, as long as you really like hill walking this is a fabulous trip. The tramway Mont Blanc ascends in height making the ascent to 1350 far easier than if hiking up from the bottom of the valley which allows this trip to be categorised at medium (and not difficult) as per the walking categories. After Prarion, the route then descends as you walk down to the ski lift Prarion and across in the direction of the Mont Blanc, it goes along the main track to Bellevue, then descend on more isolated, tranquil, beautiful little foot paths in the direction of Le Planet & Le Crozat, before contouring around to quaint Bionnassay, and heading back across on the forest foot paths to Montivon tramway mountain station. Return on the Mont Blanc tramway.
