TDC - Tour des Combins is a fabulous trek. It can be done in less than 8 days days if you are happy to stretch your legs for longer each day.
The catch is that many alpine refuges / mountain huts prefer, some even insist, that you arrive on time for dinner, so if you want feeding then arriving by 5 or 6pm is their preferred option. The body appreciates refuelling overnight, so dinner is useful.
If you do not reserve dinner then it is good to know there is bed and breakfast but still check out your options if you have time. Walking in summer evenings can be a fine experience, most memorable, great fun and allows you to progress well.

You can book Tour des Combins with www.montblanctrips.com for 2024 and 2025.
It is offered as an 8 day option. The aim is to ensure there is always a meal in the evening at an alpine refuge, breakfast is usually self service before setting off for the day to give you energy to do the trek.
Ordinarily alpine refuges welcome you, provide hot showers, shelter from alpine storms, offer food and drink, are "relatively" clean mountain trekking accommodation establishments and give you a warm welcome.
Please note they are not hotels. Alpine refuges provide summer trekkers refuge from alpine storms and a place to rest. Hot water is sometimes via solar panels so may be limited or non existent depending on the weather.

Reaching Cabane FXB Panossière takes some effort going up and down hill if carrying a rucksack, there is also a wire bridge nearby which cross the valley below.
I am happy to answer questions for solo trekkers, you can email me directly at info@montblanctrips.com
Alternatively, book on to a trip with me and join a group using the services of an International Mountain Leader.. This way you do not have to buy maps or navigate. You benefit from someone who has been there before and when it is thick cloud you can join the group to reach the alpine refuge in a walking a group.
Please note there are several options for the paths on the Tour des Combins and if you find yourself in an alpine storm it is usually good to head to take shelter at an alpine refuge / mountain hut / cabane or go down into the valley.
