You might unintentionally or accidentally hurt yourself, or someone else, in the mountains.  Your holiday can end due to a personal accident, sickness, missed flight, or other unexpected reason.  It is your insurer and underwriter that can provide assistance so please take out insurance before leaving home.

Looking out for yourself and others in the mountains is essential.  Insurance is on top of just being a naturally careful and considerate walker / hiker.  That's really important.

Insurers:

Possible suppliers of insurance services are freely available on the internet.  No suggestions of insurance policies are provided or advised by the Company other than mentioning a few possible insurance providers below that may or may not be able to assist you in making your choice of insurance cover but no hint of how good or not good their services  are is made because every person has individual requirements depending on what they are doing and their own state of health.  None of these are recommendations and are provided for information purposes only.

Remember the insurer sometimes work with providers that cover specialist emergency cover with procedures for emergency events that you may, or may not, find useful, so it can be very useful to get specialist cover for your trip.  Different insurers provide different levels of cover.  The Company does not specify a level of cover as you may be a high net worth individual or sufficiently wealthy to cover costs but do remember the emergency service they offer are just that and you may wish to use an insurance providers' emergency services.

Please note in France you can be prosecuted for your lack of civil responsibility if not caring for others around you, so no matter whether you know someone or not, if someone looks unwell, hurt, injured, or out of character, no matter the age, sex. colour or creed, ask them if ok and inform someone of your concern.  Do check others are ok and call for help if not especially when walking at high altitude or even medium altitude.
